Song of Sounds

At Aston we follow the Collins 'Song of Sounds' phonics programme, we learn and practise our sounds everyday applying them in practical activities and all aspects of our writing. The song that is used is on this page for you to watch and sing along to, your children will show you the actions!

Homework

Phonics sounds will be sent home weekly on a Friday, they will be the sounds we have introduced that day and will be working on the following week, this will help the children to prepare and practise the sounds before the activities in school. 

Reading

Phonics recognition is vital in the process of learning to read and children become confident readers when they can quickly recognise and blend the sounds together. Initially children will bring home a book that contains the sounds they know to read to you and a book that you can read to them for pleasure. We want to instill a love of reading for life!
